Helping government regulators build their capability.

Welcome!

Jane Hudson, Director

At JBass Learning (JBass) we design and create customised regulatory capability solutions to help government regulatory agencies (regulators) grow and maintain a highly capable, confident, and effective workforce.

When in doubt, protect…

At its heart, regulation is about protecting:

  • People, e.g., workplace health and safety risks, wage theft, liquor and gambling harm, unsafe health care practices, AI, and social media (the list goes on...).

  • The environment, e.g. air pollution – water pollution – land pollution  - space pollution.

It’s not easy being a regulator

The regulators' role is to administer the regulation so that the underlying social, economic or environmental policy objectives are achieved 'in accordance with the powers and authority given to them through legislation and government direction' (ANAO Administering Regulation June 2014, p.3). It’s a challenging role in a dynamic and complex operating environment.

Capability is the key to effective regulation

Every regulator’s effectiveness depends on its capability (individually and organisationally) to apply an appropriate blend of regulatory tools and levers to guide/regulate/enforce human behaviour and meet its objectives. A capable regulatory workforce means that regulators are better equipped to deliver public value, meet community expectations and do their best work.
